Day 275: Sally Hansen – Glitz Gal

Hey Dolls,

I have a glitter bomb for you today it is called Glitz Gal from Sally Hansen’s Gem Crush Collection. Glitz Gal looks all to familiar to me a few other brands have similar looking polishes I will do a comparison post soon on the “dupes”. Sally Hansen website says “Gem Crush Nail Color is High Impact Bling! Instant glam with finger-to-toe bling. This innovative full coverage glitter formula turns nails into jewelry that stays on wherever you go.” Glitz Gal is exactly that it is a charcoal gray micro glitter with medium round holo glitter throughout a clear base. Like I said earlier it looks like other polishes from other brands a few of those are Deborah Lippmann’s Dancing In The Dark, China Glaze Some Like It Haute, Wet N Wild’s Diamond In The Rough and Nails Inc. Sloane Square and probably a few others I can’t think of right now but I will do a dupe post soon and compare all of them. The formula on Glitz Gal was nice, not runny, but it was thin. Sparse at first but built nicely, it became opaque at two coats. But I did mine in three coats because I feel polish looks good it three coats, it might be an OCD thing not sure which lol. This polish has the same brush ad the Insta-Dri polishes – flat and wide. I like my brush wide the polish seems to glide on easier to me. You can find this collection if your lucky at your local drug stores Walgreens, CVS, Walmart etc. I found mine on ebay for a cheap price so I was happy I didn’t have to go searching for the whole collection. They retail for around $6.99 a bottle. That’s all for Glitz Gal on to the nail porn until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 252: Wet N’ Wild – Back Alley Deals

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun glitter bomb for you today it is called Back Alley Deals from Wet N’ Wilds Ice Baby Collection it is also from their coloricon line of polishes. Back Alley Deals is a superfine purple glitter with bright hot magenta round glitter in a larger size that stands out from the tiny glitter base. It can also be compared to Deborah Lippmann Flash Dance and Nails Inc. Bloomsbury Square Special Effects 3D glitter. I will do a comparison when I get my Nails Inc. in the nail mail. The formula on this was great considering it is a drugstore brand nail polish. It applied flawlessly but it is thick and has a rough texture to it. I found that if I just waited a little longer in between coats that I didn’t have any clumping or dragging which can sometimes happen with these gritty glitters. Back Alley Deals applied evenly and dried quickly. It is also opaque; I used three coats because I have a thing for using three coats and one coat of topcoat to add some shininess. Back Alley Deals is extremely textured and gritty and dries matte, so if you want a smooth finish you will need multiple coats of your favorite topcoat. But me I love the finish matte glitter amazeballs. I love this collection it is from it is super amzeballs. I love this one it reminds me of valentines day for some reason. Thats all for now until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…….On to the nail porn.

Day 232: OPI – Rainbow Connection

Hey Dolls,

I have another awesome glitter from OPI’s The Muppet’s Collection this one is called Rainbow Connection. Rainbow Connection is billed as the rainbow glitter of your dreams, and oh, it is. This polish contains both small and large chunks of multi-colored glitter – blue, silver, red, orange, pink, green! And yes darlings we have seen something like this before, it is an exact dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday, which there are also several other’s out there by different company’s with different names but all are dupes of each other I will post DL Happy Dupes later on. Back to rainbow Connection the formula is a little thick so the glitter doesn’t glide onto the nail easily. I use what I call the “splat method” to apply where I basically get the brush and “splat” the glitters on.  It’s somewhat difficult to wear Rainbow Connection alone as it would become quite thick so I’d suggest layering it over a base color. But you can wear it how you want I choose both alone and over other colors I just love a unique manicure and change it up a little. If you’re a glitter lover like me, this polish is for you! BUT there are many dupes…m So like I said there are so many similar polishes on the market now. I own several close dupes to this, from drugstore to high end. I am going to swatch them all and compare them in a blog post coming soon. So be on the look out for The Multi Glitter Show Down. hahaha Well until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 198: Ulta – Pinata-Yada-Yada

Hey Dolls,

I was wondering around Ulta as usual and I found Pinata-Yada-Yada by Utla and I snatched it up. Pinata-yada-yada is a multi size, multi color glitter polish. I love it! It’s a party in a bottle. This one reminds me of a few other polishes I own such as Milani Gems, OPI Rainbow Connection, Essence Circus Confetti, Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday and a few others I will do reviews and comparisons of all of them.  I took pictures of it by itself and on top of Wet n’ Wild Ink Well. This is an awesome polish I love this glitter it is so fun its a glitter bomb party in a bottle. LOVE IT SUPER AMAZEBALLZ. The polish went on trouble free. Sometimes I would have to poke at a piece of glitter to move it away from the edge of my nail but other than that the brush did a good job at evenly distributing all the glitter. I cannot wait to try Pinata-Yada-Yada over other colors.I expected rough and chunky glitter but that is not the case with Pinata – yada- yada. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

OPI Black Shatter vs. China Glaze Black Mesh Crackle

Hey Dolls,

I have a little treat for you today, I know I’ve already showed you OPI Black Shatter and China Glaze Black Mesh Crackle  in my 365 days of nail polish but I wanted to do a little  OPI Shatter Vs. China Glaze Crackle for you so you can see the difference and make up your mind from there. Let’s get started shall we…

CAN YOU SPOT THE DIFFERENCE?

At a side by side glance you can’t really tell them apart they look like the exact same nail polish right? Wrong I have both of them on, here’s which is what…

Ok now on to business they are both an inky black but the china glaze is a little less goopy to apply then OPI is. Next on to how they look the china glaze breaks apart into more random pieces. While OPI has longer lengthwise splits that make it look like fault lines on the ground. The china glaze black mesh crackle’s consistency is perfect, slightly thin and very easy to work with. Black Mesh is a great alternative to OPI’s Black Shatter they both have similar results. The OPI shatter after several uses I noticed the formula developed a thickness and somewhat goopy texture to it. I’ve heard you can use nail polish thinner to tone it down, but I haven’t personally tried that and in no way whatsoever recommend it. OPI has 15ml instead of China Glaze’s 14ml. Both work very similarly on the nail, however, I find that OPI’s brush is a bit wider and therefore it’s easier to apply the polish in my opinion. However, both are very workable, and if you can’t find one or the other, they both make excellent substitutes for this style. I know OPI Black Shatter retail’s for about $10 a bottle and China Glaze retails for about $3.50 to $9.50 depending on where you buy it. These polishes are exact dupes for each other, it basically comes down to which brand you prefer. Personally I loved how the OPi Black Shatter shattered better than china Glaze that’s just my preference dolls, until next nail polish, same nail time same nail channel…
