Day 309: Finger Paints-Flashy

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun flakie  polish for you today it is called Flashy it is from Finger Paints Special Effects Collection. Flashy is  is a red and copper flakie that has flashes of green.  It seems to me that Flashy didn’t have as many large flakes as some of the others in this collection but it’s still gorgeous! It also looks like a dupe of Nubar’s 2010, Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Essie’s Shine Of The Times. I still love it anyways, I will do a comparison post soon. This one is best when layered over another color. I took some pictures of it by itself but I also have it over a black polish to show off the flakie goodness. On to the nail porn, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…….

Day 287: Essie- As Gold As It Gets

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun top coat for you today it is called As Gold As It Gets from Essie Luxeffects Collection. As Gold As It Gets is flakes of gold glitter in a clear base. I have read that this is pretty much the same as the CND Sheer 24K Sparkle effect, I’m not sure because I don’t own it but if I do get it I will compare them for you. The flakies seem a little less dense in the Essie version. For those of you who didn’t want to purchase the whole CND set just for that effect this is a great alternative. The whole luxeffects collection is meant as topcoats for fun effects over other colors, some can be worn alone and some can’t. I wouldn’t recommend wearing this one alone, I took pictures of it alone it doesn’t show up on the nail very well. I also took some over Wet n’ Wild Ink Well, it looks awesome over black I love this one I think it belongs in anyone’s collection. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 279: Essie – Shine OF The Times

Hey Dolls,

Today I have an awesome flakie for you today it is called Shine Of The Times from Essie’s 2011 Luxeffects Collection. Shine Of The Times is pretty much a dupe of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010 but shoot, I still love it. I will never get tired of flakies. If you missed out on Hidden Treasure and don’t have access to Nubar this is a great alternative. I will do a comparison post of all the flakies to show you what I mean. You can’t wear them alone, well there is no rule that you can’t by all means if you want to go for it but you can barely see the flakies. I prefer them over other colors, over lighter colors for example OPI Mermaid’s Tears (see picture below) you can see a bit of the blue/purple in the flakies, it’s gorgeous!I love how different this olish is over light or dark polishes. I took a few of it alone to show what it looks like, I have a few over Wet N ‘ Wild Ink Well and of course over OPI Mermaid’s Tears. Shine Of The Times is a multichromatic flaky glitter topcoat. This shifts to every color except purple, but the dominant colors are red/orange and green. The blue tones show up at extreme angles but aren’t as obvious on the nail as they are in the bottle. There’s a heavy amount of flake in here and it provides very good coverage with only one coat. The flakes in this one have a wider size range and the coverage is more dense with this one. That’s all I have to say about the flakie goodness that is Essie Shine Of The Times, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 270: Sally Hansen – Glass Slipper

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun polish for you today it is called Glass Slipper from Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color line. Glass Slipper is like snow in a bottle of nail polish, it is a  sparkling topper with a mix of different size icy silver flakies floating in a slightly milky clear jelly base. I love this one it was hard for me to find it but I found mine on ebay for cheap but after I received it I found two bottles at my rite aid lol oh well I have it that is all that matters. This is so pretty, in person but it kind of hangs back in photographs. It just doesn’t show up as it does when you are looking directly at it. Glass Slipper is a nicely behaved topper polish. Smooth jelly base and plenty of flakies. This polish applies smoothly and the flakies are easy to work with. They go on a tad unevenly but it isn’t a major deal and easy enough to even out. This topper dries quickly and needs no  top coat to make it utterly shiny and sparkly. I love the faceted bottle it comes in so pretty and a little gem on the front I’m in love. It  is available in drugstores and other retailers that carry Sally Hansen. It runs between six and seven dollars a bottle. A little steep, for Sally Hansen, if you ask me but oh well I love pretty polishes and I will pay it if I want it bad enough lol. I took a few pictures by itself but it doesn’t show up and I also took some with it over Wet N’ Wild’s Ink Well onto the nail porn, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 262: OPI – Animal-istic

Hey Dolls,

I have another polish from OPI  Muppet’s Collection it is called Animal-istic. Animal-istic is a bright red with a hint of orange, it has small regularly shaped flecks that flash red to a bit of orange depending on the light. My pictures didn’t capture that to well you just have to see that for yourself in person. It is a lively red and I love that it is not dark or heavy looking I’m not mush of a red girl but I would wear this one because it is a bright red with flakies 😀 It had a nice formula but it does take three to four coats to become opaque because it is on the sheer side. Other than that it is awesome. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 260: OPI – Meep- Meep- Meep

Hey Dolls,

Today I have a fun polish for you it is called Meep-Meep-Meep from OPI’s The Muppet’s Collection. Meep-Meep-Meep is a beautiful deep, blue toned, reddened magenta jelly base that is full of delicate, iridescent floating flakies. The flakies are magical, flashing back in pink, fuchsia, red, gold and even blue sparks, at the right angle. This polish isn’t really a color I would normally buy or wear but I’m a sucker for a complete collection and glass flakies in my polish. The formula for this polish is OPI-licious. Smooth and easy to work with. I had no trouble controlling how this polish applied as it flowed off of that fabulous Pro-Wide brush. I had very little cleanup and very little dry time was good. Do I recommend that you grab it if you see it? Definitely. It isn’t the longest lasting polish I have ever met, but it is beautiful and well worth owning and wearing. My pictures really don’t show the gorgeousness of the polish – it’s much juicier and glass-flecky and gorgeous in real life. It’s absolutely dazzling, especially in the sun. I used three coats. It covered really well, typical of OPI quality. I think is an all-around pleasing color and that even though it might not be the attention getter among all the crazy glitters in this collection, I bet it’d look great on lots of people if they gave it a chance! On to the nail porn until next, nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..
