Day 259: China Glaze – IDK

Hey Dolls,

I have awesome Holo for you today it is called IDK from China Glaze’s OMG Collection. IDK is a light dusty purple holo almost like a lilac purple. I love this one because its light and not bam in your face I’m a holo it is a great color for work when you want a little funkiness without being wham in your face funkiness. As you may or may not already know the holo effect in the OMG collection is way different from the holo effect’s in the Kaleidoscope and Tronica Collections. I love any and every holo so they are technically all my favorites lol. The holo effect of this one is very smooth and straight, the particles appear more organized and linear. In normal indoor light the holo effect on this is very visible but outdoors it is wham in your face visible like hello I am a holo you got to love me. The formula on this is a little tricky though it is best applied without a basecoat, as weird streaking and bald spots occur when applied over basecoat. It does not stain, so don’t worry too much about not using a basecoat. The formula is also a little drippy and tricky to apply, but these color is well worth the extra effort. It is so beautiful I took several pictures of IDK indoors and outside in the sun to show you the best of IDK. Enough word vomit on to the nail porn, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 242: China Glaze – OMG

Hey Dolls,

Today I have an awesome holographic polish for you it is called OMG and it is from CHina Glaze’s OMG Collection. OMG is  a smooth silver beauty and the namesake of the collection.  This has the strongest holo effect of my polishes and it can even be seen in the shade. This is a stunning sliver holographic polish. For those of you not familiar with collection, OMG was a collection of twelve holographic polishes released in 2008.  The polishes are renown for having some of the strongest linear holographic finishes available combined with a variety of extremely wearable colours.  Most holographic polishes that are available have what is known as a “scattered” effect which means the holographic effect appears randomly through the polish, much like glitter.  A “linear” effect describes the linear rainbow effect that can be seen in these polishes.  Unfortunately this collection is discontinued but can be found on eBay quite easily if you’re willing to pay for it. I have a few different silver holographic polishes I will do a review on them and show you sometime later. The formula on this is a little more tricky. This is best applied without a basecoat, as weird streaking and bald spots occur when applied over basecoat. OMG does not stain, so don’t worry too much about not using a basecoat. The formula is also a little drippy and tricky to apply, but this color is well worth the extra effort. I took tons of pictures of it indoors and outdoors to show you all the holographic goodness. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 235: China Glaze – LOL

Hey Dolls,

I don’t know if I have mentioned recently I have finished my OMG, Kaleidoscope and Tronica collections, I finally recived the only one I needed to complete my collections. It was a lot of work and money but it was worth it. Today I am going to show you a polish from China Glaze OMG Collection, this one is called LOL. For those of you who aren’t aware, the OMG Collection is one of the most sought after collections I’ve ever come across. Released in Spring 2008 the OMG collection consisted of 12 Limited Edition holographic polishes, unfortunately back in 2008 I had no idea about China Glaze, so I completely missed out on the opportunity to own them all. But I can say I now own all 12. LOL  is a gorgeous purple holographic polish. It is one of those holographics that look really dull in normal lighting. So if you really like your holo to be holo, LOL is not for you. In the sun it is gorgeous wham in your face holo. I took several pictures of LOL indoors in normal lighting and outdoors in the sun. I love California even in winter you sometimes have the sun shinning. 😀  My advice for applying this is waiting longer than usual between the coats since i’ve heard it has a tendency to smudge and become bumpy. It took 2 coats for me to get an opaque finish. The only drawback for me is that it chipped faster than normal polishes. I’ve read a lot that some people say the OMG collection has more problems with chipping faster than the Kaleidoscope Collection. Well I have rambled on enough until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

China Glaze OMG Collection

Hey Dolls,

I wanted to show you the OMG Collection as a whole as well as me reviewing them individually. China Glaze introduced the OMG Collection for spring 2008, as a holographic nail polish collection.  The total campaign was focused around looking kewl while your texting. All the nail polish names relate to instant messaging or texts abbreviations. I missed out on this collection when it first came around and when I found about this collection I was bummed to find out that this collection was discontinued. But alas I have a hard time being told I cant have or get something so  I did intensive web searches and mass ebay stalking auctions and placing bids trying to find the cheapest price and low and behold I am now the proud owner of the entire collection. Well now that I rambled on to what I wanted to show you all. I am also making the names clickable so you can go to their review and see close ups of the colors and a more in depth look at the colors:

From left to right: QT, TMI, TTYL, FYI, GR8, AND L8R G8R This is the 2BHot Set.

From left to right: DV8, LOL, BFF (ORIGINAL PINK VERSION), IDK, 2NITE, AND OMG. This is the 2BKewl Set.

Now I said BFF original pink version because there are people out there on ebay selling one that is a brown version it kind of looks similar to TTYL but isn’t exactly the same color as that one. I actually own the brown version of BFF it says BFF on the bottom so I’m really not sure what happened there but the original is pink. Here is a picture of the brown version:

BFF (brown version)  The next pictures you will see what I mean about two different versions of BFF.

Here is a brief swatch of all the colors:

Well Dollies that is all I have for you on my OMG Collection by China Glaze Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel….

Day 226: China Glaze – Techno Teal

Hey Dolls,

Today I have an awesome polish for you it is called Techno Teal from China Glaze’s Tronica Collection. Techno Teal is  a dark teal that looks a little more green on the nail than in the bottle, but it definitely is a blue based teal more so than a green based teal. It is a scattered holographic that is only really apparent in sunlight or bright indoor lighting, and even then, it’s certainly not an in-your-face holo. Even when the holo isn’t apparent, it’s still a gorgeous polish in its own right.  People have been saying they didn’t like this collection because the holo effect isn’t bam in your face, but I still love this collection and you can tell in some lights  or depending on how the light hits the nail that the holo effect is there.  So it DOES exist in the polish, just not a ton. The formula was very similar to a linear holo. It’s that weird, resistant formula that doesn’t want to be on your nails. You need to use gentle, few strokes or the polish picks itself back up on the brush.  But in two to three coats it became opaque and it looks gorgeous. It did dry very quickly, though so  it was not problem waiting for layers to dry before you put on the next layer. I also added some pictures of it outdoors in the sun to show off its holo effect. I hope you love it as much as I do. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel….

Day 221: China Glaze – It’s My Turn

Hey Dolls,

Guess what I have for you …… well if you’ve read the title you already know I have It’s My Turn by China Glaze from their Kaleidoscope Collection. It’s My Turn is a lovely gold prismatic shimmer Holo. Oh how I love this one I love gold nail polish but a gold prismatic holo ohhhh drool…… Love it. It’s incredibly bright and eye catching. This is a glittery Gold holographic polish meaning it reflects many different colors, but the glitter sort of works together, rather than independently. Those of you familiar with the OMG collection Holos you might think these look more like a glitter polish. I love the smooth-linear-ness of the OMG holos, but these are just….Amazing. I can’t tell which I prefer more, the smooth Holo of the OMG’s or the chunkier holo of these Kaleidoscope polishes. The OMG’s are pretty much opaque in 2 coats, the Kaleidoscope’s typically need 3, since they seem to not have much of a base color. But I love both collections  Just the same. The OMG have some chipping problems but I’ve yet to see any chipping problems with  this polish or the whole Kaleidoscope collection for that matter. I also added pictures of It’s My Turn outdoors in the sun to show you the holo effect in the sun. Well I have rambled enough I will just move on to pictures, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…

Day 216: L’Oreal – Owl’s Night

Hey Dolls,

I have an awesome polish for you today it is called Owl’s Night by L’oreal it is from their Project Runway Limited Edition collection. Owl’s Night is aptly named it is beautiful. It is dark and mysterious and it does evoke the creature for which it is named. Owl’s Night is a dark, greyed purple base packed with duochrome color shifting gold glass fleck shimmer. I know you can’t see the purple I think that is because the the duochrome gold is really strong in this polish it makes it almost look like a brown color. It has a decent formula. It is thin but not runny. It was easy to apply and control and I didn’t have to do much cleanup. Just a few coats and you have full coverage. Dry time was pretty fast with this polish. This is the first L’oreal polish I have ever tried in my life I haven’t used it as a full manicure yet but I will update you on wear later on I just wanted to show how pretty it is first, well enjoy dolls until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……
