Day 311: Essie- Pure Pearlfection

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun polish for you today it is called Pure Pearlfection from Essie’s Luxeffects collection. Pure Pearlfection is well a little hard to describe but i’ll give it a go it pretty much is a top coat that has a pearl shimmer effect when layered over another color it really transforms colors and textures and I love how it looks a little different over every color it is layered over. I am obsessed with this nail polish. I think the result speaks for itself.  It gives the polish a completely new look – and I absolutely love it. I prefer shimmers to cremes and I can’t wait to try this over… pretty much everything I own. I took a few pictures of it by itself but you can’t really tell a difference and I also layered it over a black polish to show you the effect the polish has over another color. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 287: Essie- As Gold As It Gets

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun top coat for you today it is called As Gold As It Gets from Essie Luxeffects Collection. As Gold As It Gets is flakes of gold glitter in a clear base. I have read that this is pretty much the same as the CND Sheer 24K Sparkle effect, I’m not sure because I don’t own it but if I do get it I will compare them for you. The flakies seem a little less dense in the Essie version. For those of you who didn’t want to purchase the whole CND set just for that effect this is a great alternative. The whole luxeffects collection is meant as topcoats for fun effects over other colors, some can be worn alone and some can’t. I wouldn’t recommend wearing this one alone, I took pictures of it alone it doesn’t show up on the nail very well. I also took some over Wet n’ Wild Ink Well, it looks awesome over black I love this one I think it belongs in anyone’s collection. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 279: Essie – Shine OF The Times

Hey Dolls,

Today I have an awesome flakie for you today it is called Shine Of The Times from Essie’s 2011 Luxeffects Collection. Shine Of The Times is pretty much a dupe of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010 but shoot, I still love it. I will never get tired of flakies. If you missed out on Hidden Treasure and don’t have access to Nubar this is a great alternative. I will do a comparison post of all the flakies to show you what I mean. You can’t wear them alone, well there is no rule that you can’t by all means if you want to go for it but you can barely see the flakies. I prefer them over other colors, over lighter colors for example OPI Mermaid’s Tears (see picture below) you can see a bit of the blue/purple in the flakies, it’s gorgeous!I love how different this olish is over light or dark polishes. I took a few of it alone to show what it looks like, I have a few over Wet N ‘ Wild Ink Well and of course over OPI Mermaid’s Tears. Shine Of The Times is a multichromatic flaky glitter topcoat. This shifts to every color except purple, but the dominant colors are red/orange and green. The blue tones show up at extreme angles but aren’t as obvious on the nail as they are in the bottle. There’s a heavy amount of flake in here and it provides very good coverage with only one coat. The flakes in this one have a wider size range and the coverage is more dense with this one. That’s all I have to say about the flakie goodness that is Essie Shine Of The Times, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 276: Essie- A Cut Above

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun glitter polish for you today it is called A Cut Above from Essie’s Holiday 2011 Luxeffect Collection. A Cut Above is a mix of light pink small, medium and hex glitter in a clear base. This reminds me of Deborah Lippmann Some Enchanted Evening, it’s not an exact dupe but it’s similar! The formula was good, it wasn’t thick and the glitter spread really easily. I wasn’t having to try and place pieces glitter or apply it in a strange way to get the glitter on looking nicely. In my pictures I am going to show you I used one coat by itself, then one coats over Wet N’ Wild Ink Well and then three or four coats by itself to show you the different ways you can wear this one. The Luxeffects Collection is available now! I have seen it in regular chain stores like Ulta or in drugstores also looks like a few of the etailers already have the collection up…transdesign.com, aveyou.com, 8ty8beauty.com, head2toebeauty.com all of them have them  just to name a couple. Also I spotted a few people selling them on ebay. Essie retails for $8 each! Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 256: Essie – Set In Stones

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun glitter bomb for you today it is called Set In Stones from Essie’s Luxeffects Collection. Set In Stones is a dense silver glitter in a clear base this polish is jammed packed. It has micro silver glitter, to small to medium to large round/hex glitter. I love this glitter bomb it  glides on you nails easily in just a few strokes and your nail is jammed packed with tons of different sized silver glitter I love it. You can wear it alone or over another color you prefer to have an awesome manicure. This polish is free of DMP, Toluene and Formaldehyde. With an even coverage in just one coat Set In Stones can bring extra shimmer, glimmer and dazzle to any manicure. I took some pictures of it layered over Wet N’ Wild Ink Well to show you how it looks layered over another color. The dark base amplifies the differences in the glitter. Over a lighter color, it’s not as easy to tell that there are different shapes in here. Over a dark color it really stands out.I also took several pictures of it alone to giver you idea of what it looks like on the nails. The formula on this polish was good, I didn’t have any trouble at all applying the glitter I just let it dry before a second coat so I wouldn’t end up removing glitter I already placed on the nail. The texture was a little thick, but not thick enough to give me a problem. This polish is sheer, but it is  supposed to be because it’s made for layering. I did two coats of this one  in the non-layered pictures and I really like how it looks alone. Drying time is average. It dries smooth, but not very shiny, so I used one coat of topcoat on these as well. On to the nail porn , until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..
