Day 278: Deborah Lippmann – Dancing In The Dark

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun polish for you today it is called Dancing In The Dark from Deborah Lippmann’s ‘Dance Music’ Mini Trio (Nordstrom Exclusive). Nordstrom describes Dancing in the Dark as “disco ball in the dark – glitter” which kind of made me laugh because aren’t all disco balls in the dark? Dancing In The Dark is a ton of gunmetal micro glitter and  larger holographic pieces.  It looks like a dark rainbow explosion on my nails. I love this one and it looks like a few other brands have dupes to this glitter also I will do a dupe post about this one very soon. It’s a bit on the sheer side but it builds nicely. It can become opaque in two to three coats. Glitter + Holo + Deborah Lippmann = perfection! It took me three coats to achieve full opacity but part of that has to do with the fact that this is a mini bottle and whenever I use mini brushes, it takes me a few extra strokes to get the polish opaque!  I really hope that Deborah Lippmann comes out with this in a full size because it’s gorgeous!  It’s the perfect winter polish with the dark grey base and then the holographic glitter just really pops! Dancing In Th Dark dries to a semi-matte and gritty texture, be warned – IT EATS TOP COAT! It took 3 coats just to feel smooth and after 6 hours or so it feels like it probably needs coat 4! Only issue I have with these, though from what I hear the other holographic glitters coming out have the same issues. That’s all I have to say tonight until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 249: Nicole by OPI – Follow Me On Glitter

Hey Dolls,

Today I reached 10 Follows on my blog I am so happy makes me feel like I’m doing something right here lol I hope to get many more and see where this little journey will take me. Thank you for coming along on this ride with me, just wanted to say thanks now on to the nail porn. Today’s polish is called Follow Me On Glitter it is from Nicole By OPI and it is from their Kardashian Kolor Collection. Ok I’m sorry I’m not into the Kardashian’s like some people I think they are a train wreck people can’t stop watching, but they do make a damn nice nail polish collection. Follow Me On Glitter is kind of hard to describe but I would say it is a charcoal gunmetal gray with a hint of khaki in it. It is a smoky tinted base with grey-silver and black micro glitter and red, green, yellow, pink magenta, orange, sky blue and silver larger round glitters throughout. It is so unique and very beautiful on the nails it is amazeballs. Only in some lights you can see the multi-colored chunks of glitters . Otherwise it is very subtle on the nail. I want to get a back up of this color because it is so unique and gorgeous. Nicole By OPI describes it as a glittery deep gray that always has something to say. Follow Me On Glitter is a rather fitting name. At first glance it looks like a dupe for China Glaze Some Like It Haute, Sally Hansen Glitz Gal, Deborah Lippmann Dancing IN The Dark, Wet N’ Wild Diamond In The Rough and Nail’s Inc. Sloane Square but not quite I will do a comparison as soon as my Nails Inc. polish arrives. I would say it is similar to those polishes but not exactly. The Formula on this one was great, perfectly even, smooth and opaque. Three coats and you have full opaqueness not bald spots no streaking , even smooth color. The brush is a little short and awkward to me the handle is long and easy to hold on to but when you get to the brush it is a little on the short side but all in all it was easy to apply the polish. Well on to the pictures dolls, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel…..

Day 248: Essence – Hello Holo

Hey Dolls,

Hello Happy New Year I’m going to start the year off right and show you an awesome polish today this one is called Hello Holo By Essence it is from their nail art special effect topper collection. Hello Holo is a polishgasm it is amazeballs. Hello Holo is a silver holo glitter that is so… holo glittery. I have never seen such a silver holo glitter this holo glittery before. Oh my god. Just, oh my god. The Holo particles in this one really show up it is really gorgeous. Holy Sparkles Batman this is an awesome glitter topper. I took several pictures of it alone then I put it over OPI Your Royal Shine-ness to show you what it would look like over a silver metallic base. The application on this polish was great and not too thick. It dried really quickly as well! The holo effect in this glitter is strong you can even see it a little in the shade and indoors, but outdoors watch out. The holo effect on this polish is a linear holo effect not scattered like the Kaleidoscope collection from China Glaze. This polish becomes opaque in two to three coats you can wear it alone or over another color to spice things up a little bit. 0I don’t think my pictures do this polish any justice but I tired I took some indoors and outdoors in the sun to try and capture the holo effect of this polish. I also took some pictures with just one coat of polish to show the glitter in the polish. That’s all I have for you today dollies enough word vomit and on to the holo porn lol, until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 246: OPI – Divine Swine

Hey Dolls,

I have an awesome glitter bomb for you today, this one is called Divine Swine From OPI The Muppet’s Collection. I love this glitter. Divine Swine is a bunch of purplish/magenta micro glitter with a bunch of large silver hexagonal glitter in a clear base. I love Miss Piggy and this collections consists of a few polishes named after the great one herself. This one did a great representation of Miss Piggy. This polish is similar to Gone Gonzo! and Fresh Frog Of Bel Air just in another color. I still love the whole collection anyways come on it the Muppet’s who doesn’t love the Muppet’s and I grew up watching them so I have a small place in my heart for them and this collection.Back to Divine Swine this one can be worn alone but it does need quite a few layers to become opaque. If lots of layers isn’t your thing you can also wear it over another polish to get a different effect. Personally I love it both ways, I took several pictures of Divine Swine alone and then I took a few of it over Orly Liquid Vinyl. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel….

Day 243: OPI – Fresh Frog Of Bel Air

Hey Dolls,

I have a fun glitter polish for you today it is called Fresh Frog Of Bel Air from OPI’S The Muppet’s Collection. Fresh Frog Of Bel Air contains both small and large hexagonal glitter, but in this one all the small, dense glitter is green and the larger glitters are silver. It is a glitter bomb in a clear base it is build-able so you can wear it alone, but it takes quite a few coats like four to five to become fully opaque if that’s to many layers for you, you can always layer it over another color to spice things up. I only took pictures of it by itself to show the greatness that is Fresh Frog Of Bel Air. This one was named after Kermit De Frog heheeh I love kermy, I got to say OPI did  great job of capturing Kermit in this polish. I don’t know why the name is in reference to Will Smith’s T.V. show oh well. Enjoy lovelies until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel….

Day 242: China Glaze – OMG

Hey Dolls,

Today I have an awesome holographic polish for you it is called OMG and it is from CHina Glaze’s OMG Collection. OMG is  a smooth silver beauty and the namesake of the collection.  This has the strongest holo effect of my polishes and it can even be seen in the shade. This is a stunning sliver holographic polish. For those of you not familiar with collection, OMG was a collection of twelve holographic polishes released in 2008.  The polishes are renown for having some of the strongest linear holographic finishes available combined with a variety of extremely wearable colours.  Most holographic polishes that are available have what is known as a “scattered” effect which means the holographic effect appears randomly through the polish, much like glitter.  A “linear” effect describes the linear rainbow effect that can be seen in these polishes.  Unfortunately this collection is discontinued but can be found on eBay quite easily if you’re willing to pay for it. I have a few different silver holographic polishes I will do a review on them and show you sometime later. The formula on this is a little more tricky. This is best applied without a basecoat, as weird streaking and bald spots occur when applied over basecoat. OMG does not stain, so don’t worry too much about not using a basecoat. The formula is also a little drippy and tricky to apply, but this color is well worth the extra effort. I took tons of pictures of it indoors and outdoors to show you all the holographic goodness. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……

Day 240: OPI – Gone Gonzo!

Hey Dolls,

I have an awesome polish for you today it is called Gone Gonzo! from OPI’s The Muppet’s Collection. Gone Gonzo! is a clear base with mix of light blue round glitter and larger silver hexagon glitter. It’s the blue variation of the same concept we’ve seen throughout the Muppets collection’s glitters. The formula for this one is really smooth and manageable you don’t really have to guide it as much. It does take at least four coats for it to become opaque. It does take some extra layers to build up opacity if you want to wear these glitters alone. Despite the extra coats though, I didn’t have to wait any extra time between applying each one for the glitter pieces to stay in place, so that was a nice plus. You could easily layer these over something else though too if you don’t want to do the extra coats or just want a different look. It does take a little bit of work to remove but it is worth it for the gorgeousness that turns out on your nails. Until next nail polish, same nail time, same nail channel……
